We are happy to say that FAAS, IAS and our lab website our now back up and running again! This was an amazingly painful process that first began with intermittent hardware failures that were leading to crashes of FAAS and IAS. As we were trying to get this fixed (moving onto new hardware, reinstalling OSes, etc.) something on the BME departmental vlan was hacked into, which led to several weeks of no server access, no individual lab websites and even no departmental website (a very big deal). After many discussions with UNC ITS, our departmental people have gotten the various systems back up and working and we finally have FAAS and IAS rebuilt on new hardware with fresh installs of everything. For those not familiar with this process, this is a long and often very painful process, so many thanks to Matt Berginski for putting a significant chunk of time into getting these back up and running again!
3/10/16: EVERYTHING UP AND RUNNING!!!
After many weeks of pain and agony, Matt has managed to get the FAAS and IAS servers up and running on new hardware! See News and Events for more info if you are interested.
2/18/16: UPDATE! - The department websites/network were hacked, which led to all websites/servers being down for the last 5 days or so. Our lab website is now back up and running and we are working on getting faas and ias back up and running on new servers asap. We think it will be running next week, but please check back here (or feel free to send an email - smgomez AT unc dot edu) for updates.
